Lime Rock Park has a history of mixing Sports Car Club of America racing with the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series fall finale.
At the Burnham Hydronics 200 Presented by Mohegan Sun that tradition will continue with a little history added for good measure, too.
The ever-growing SCCA Spec Miata class and the Historic Racing Group will be part of the show on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Lime Rock. The Historic Racing Group will run a 20-lap race on Saturday before the Burnham Hydronics 200 and Spec Miata will conclude the program with a one-hour and 15-minute enduro.
The Historic Racing Group targets older production sports and sedans, mainly from the 1965-1973 era.
Run under the umbrella of SCCA Club Racing, Historic Racing Group cars are classified by engine displacement into five groups. Among the cars in the Historic Racing Group are classic 1960s Corvettes and Camaros, Ford Mustangs and Shelby GT-350s along with European entries from BMW, Jaguar, Mini, Saab, Triumph, Volvo, and others.
Spec Miata is the fastest growing class in amateur racing.
Based on the popular Mazda Miata, Spec Miata encompasses all model years of the car from 1990 to 2005. Fans can expect a full field of cars and wheel-to-wheel excitement during the Spec Miata race.
So stay in your lawn chairs or on your blankets before and after the NASCAR Busch North Series race and enjoy the SCCA action from the Historic Racing Group and the Spec Miata class.
Tickets to the Burnham Hydronics 200 Presented by Mohegan Sun, the next-to-last race in the NASCAR Busch North Series season, are available at the gate.
